with your brush loaded with liquid(???) white press out a circle spot on the canvas, with scrawling motion push the paint around in all direction this will create a transparent shape.
when you think ************SPAM/BANNEAR************ the shape ************SPAM/BANNEAR************ the cloud, tink about moving through the sky parts ************SPAM/BANNEAR************ the cloud are desapearing as it moves some pieces are breaking off, floating in a diferent direction, the edges are wispy and soft.
it is importanr to add these elements when you paint puffy clouds, it is also important that you don´t make the cloud too uniform because you want your clouds to be believable.
a common mistake when painting clouds is making the cloud too round on top, kinda like you see in cartoons or having the edges to sharp and defined continue pushing the paint around, make the paint go as far as possible before you add more to the brush we want parts ************SPAM/BANNEAR************ the cloud to be transparent and since the white we're using is opake the dark blue will show through where there areas ************SPAM/BANNEAR************ less white paint creating a hazy transparent effect this tipe ************SPAM/BANNEAR************ technique is making the background do all the work, when you aloud the background to show through you can create shadows by using one color this is why we inicially want to have the cloud transparent, as we build up layers in the middle ************SPAM/BANNEAR************ the cloud less ************SPAM/BANNEAR************ the dark blue will show through this will make the middle ************SPAM/BANNEAR************ the cloud look solid and tridimentional while the outer edges ************SPAM/BANNEAR************ the cloud are transparent during this entire process I haven´t added anymore paint to my brush, it made the initial paint go very long way you really don´t have to add more paint to the brush untill you start building layers in the middle.
I've completed my initial shape aloud this to dry to the touch before adding more layers to the middle.
my initial shape is now dry and I'm ready to start adding layers pick wich side you want to have the light surce coming from, I'm going to have the light surce from right to left.

already you can tell the the light is shining from right to left continue the scrawling motion to eliminate blue areas in the middle ************SPAM/BANNEAR************ the cloud, we want the background to show through in some parts ************SPAM/BANNEAR************ the cloud but we want most ************SPAM/BANNEAR************ the middle to be solid make sure to add ________to the small break off clouds out and front notice how I added break-off clouds in diferent areas this tecnique makes the cloud look as if it's slowly moving though the athmosphere
I'm going to add some more paint to the brush to continue to add contours to the front ************SPAM/BANNEAR************ the cloud, you can make your contours all diferent sizes just be sure to blend them down and across
start adding contourse in the middle ************SPAM/BANNEAR************ the cloud leave some area between the fron contours and middle contourse this will aloud some ************SPAM/BANNEAR************ the background to show through and create a shadow
you can continue adding contours with more and more paint just make sure you don´t cover up the hazyness around the top ************SPAM/BANNEAR************ the cloud, the hazyness is what helps make these simple clouds be very effective.
